When designing a set of bespoke kitchen seating, it’s important to consider the height of your kitchen or counter. Bar stools tend to range from 30-36 inches (approximately 75-90 centimetres), whilst counter stools tend to range from 24-30 inches (60-75 centimetres). The height of the bar itself will dictate your decision as to whether you want a bar stool or a counter stool.
A rough guideline is to measure from your floor to the top of your bar or counter; once satisfied with the accuracy, subtract 10 inches (25 centimetres) from the overall height for an idea of the most suitable barstool height, which will take into account knee and leg room.
