The classic Howe 40/4 chair is a design icon of the 20th century. Designed by David Rowland, since its launch in 1964 over 8 million have been made. The elegant lines and excellent ergonomics combine with a superb ability to make use of space with dense storage. Up to 40 chairs stack quickly and neatly into a height of 4 feet, giving the chair its name.The Howe 40/4 can used as a side chair, armchair, or a row of chairs, all of which can be stackable and transported easily on different wheeled dollys. There is also a variety of finishes and fabrics from which to choose.

The range has developed to encompas many different types of seating options from high to low bar stools, wheeled desk chairs, to upholstered seats and backs. The chair is widely used in different forms and can be seen in many important schools, colleges and churches worldwide.
